DON - My Doodles

I saw "DON - The Chase Begins" yesterday. First if you haven't, take a look at the trailor..

After I saw the Trailor, I was blown away! I thought the Movie was going to be out of this world!! It was!!

Now I'm not going to go on and on about the Plot, since most of you know already that this is a remake of the Eighties BLOCKBUSTER "DON" starring Amithabh Bachan. So I'll get the the Comments right away.

Shah Rukh Khan:

As always, Shah Rukh Khan has given the role of DON and Vijay all he's got! His acting is almost Flawless. But (as in everything else, there is a BUT!) he really doesn't not suit the role of a ruthless underground Crime Lord. I felt like I was watching The Godfather, with Mathew Perry playing the role of Al Pachino. SRK's acting does give a stylish touch to the charecter, but his petite physique and past reputation as a Fun Loving, Hopeless Romantic just overpower everything else. Also, as much as we try to ignore it, it is too frequent. Yes! I'm reffereing to some of the mannerism of SRK whic makes him look Gay, thus killing DON's Charecterization!

The Three Chicks:

Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor, and Esha Gopikar do a good job with their roles. They've given exactly what is needed. Kareena Kapoor only comes in for the first 10 mins before her charecter is murdered by DON. She sizzles in the song "Deewana Deewana". Esha Gpoikar and Priyanka Chopra also look dazzling in all the scenes that they're in as they always do.

Boman Irani, Arjun Rampal, and Om Puri:

Boman Irani is awesome as DCP Dsilwa. He shines as the Good Cop in the first half, and also as the Ruthless Vardhan in the second. Arjun Rampal is one of the best things in DON. He plays the role of Jasjeet with perfect accuracy. Om Puri does his job well too.

Farhan Akhtar:

Farhan Akhtar's care in his script and in the presentation of the storyline is seen in each and every frame of the movie. It's no surprice that Farhan Akhtar is an expert director because we have seen his earlier movies like Dil Chatha Hai and Lakshya. Although Farhan Akhtar did pull in a lot of critisism for distorting the Climax from the Original DON, none can deny the fact that the ending for this DON is far better than the Original! The Ending leaves the audience shellshocked and nailed to their seats even after the Credits are over! Bravo!

Technical Brilliance and The
Slick Presentation:

The Technical Brilliance and the Awesome Presentation is Jaw Dropping. DON doesn't fall short of a High Budjet Hollywood Action Flick! Some scenes just blew me away, espicially the Air Fight between DON and a white guy (You'll be in awe once you see it too).

Music:

Shankar Ehsan Roy have done an excellent with the music. Espicially the BGM just adds to the Adrenaline Rush of the movie.

Overall:

DON is definatly a MUST SEE! There are a few flaws like SRK's gay-ish mannerisms but other than that, the movie is quite amazing! Go for it, incase you haven't already!

"E" - My Doodles

I recently happend to see "E". The Deepavali Release starring Jeeva, Nayantara, Asish Vidhyarthi, Pasupathy and Karunas. It was really good, and eye opening. The basic theme of the movie is about Medical Experiments on People in economically weaker conditions in countries like India, Pakistan, Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

Plot:

Eeswaran alias "E" (Jeeva) is a local good-for-nothing who makes his living by doing several fraudulent things like stealing, being a hitman, etc in the slums of Chennai. He leads his life on a day to day basis, and doesn't care much about anything else. A Doctor known as Dr.Ramakrishna (Asish VIdhyarthi) comes to E's slum and says that he gives free treatement to the poor and wants to help those in need. So everyone in the slum goes to him for any medical help or advise. He gives them the advise, and if needed he gives them the injection shots which they need for free. Everyone in the slum loves him. But there is another side to him. He is an agent to Foreign Countries experimenting with Biological Weapons and gets paid in millions when he carries out their experiments. He creates Viruses and tests them out the poor living in the slums of Tamil Nadu. If anyone dies, he claims that it was a common illness like Malaria, of Bird Flu which killed them, and says that he did his best save their life. The poor who have no knoledge about health or the human body have no other choice but to believe him while he gets paid. Hundrends of died in his experiments in different locations in India, and worst part is that he isn't the only agent. There are hundreds of such agents all over India, and other third world countires conducting different experiments to create Biological Weapons. Dr. Ramakrishna's experiments continue, while E continues to do hitjobs, robbery etc. During this time, Nayantara, a Stripper at a bar moves into the slum and the inevitable happens. Nayantara and E fall in love with eachother. A few scenes with Nayantara and E and a couple of Duets later the story picks it's pace up again, and a little girl in the slum dies, making Dr. Ramakrishna happy and proud because one his experiments have worked killing the 9 year old girl. In the middle of this, Nellai Mani (Pasupathy) a wanted murderer by the Police, who has killed several Doctors in the past, comes into play and attempts to kill Dr. Ramakrishnan. He almost suceeds but E comes in and saves the Doctor by hitting Nellai Mani with a Metal Bar. Nellai Mani is arrested, and Dr. Ramakrishna thanks E and says that he will make E a rich man if E murders Nellai Mani. Excited by this, E decides to take the offer. A few irrelevent things happen, and one day E is on the run and is being chased by College Students due to a failed hit job, and coicidentally Nellai Mani is also on the run and is being chased by the Police. Nellai Mani gets shot up by the Police but manages to crawl away, and save E's life who was now hanging off of the middle of a bridge and passes out. E takes Nellai Mani to an abandoned tower claiming that E will give his life for Nellai Mani because he saved his life. But we come to learn that he has other plans for Nellai Mani. He decides to bargain a price for Nellai Mani with Dr. Ramakrishna. After the Intermission, the story takes a turn, and E's grandmother falls ill. E takes her to Dr. Ramakrishna since he is oblivious the his activities while keeping an eye of the recovering Nellai Mani. E fixes a rate for Mani's body from Ramakrishna and tries to kill him but can't bring it up inside him to do so. A few days later while Nellai Mani recovers, he tells E about the kind of person that Dr. Ramakrishna is and that there are many. Nellai Mani's mission is to find and kill these monsters who create more and more viruses which are developed by testing and killing innocent indians and sell them to Foreing Countries. As they finish talking about this, E realizes that his grandmother has also just passed away due to the experiment, and due to some unexpected turn of events Nellai Mani throws a pistol to E and asks E to shoot him. E hesitates, but later does as he has no other choice. Right smack in the middle of all of this Nayantara dumps E and leaves town. E doesn't make a big deal out of this as he doesn't care anymore. Suddenly E is shown marching towards Dr. Ramakrishna's Lab which has many wierd experimental things going on. For ex, a baby with a huge lump bulging out of the side of it's head is kept inside a glass jar filled with water is shown. So anywayz, E finds the Doctor and after a few eye opening dialouges, E murders the Doctor. A few months later, News Tidbits are shown, that some Medical Researchers are being murdered all over the state, and that the police are looking for a man known as E. E has taken up a mission is dismantle this unimaginable system by assasinating every Doctor and Agent in the state who goes along with these experiments.

Jeeva, Pasupahty, Asish Vidhyarthi, and Nayantara:

Jeeva has done a very good job in acting. He plays the role of a local, indecent thug very well. His acting skills keep improving, and with each new movie he surprices the audience with a veriety of roles, and flawless Acting.

Pasupathy as always STEALS THE SHOW! He stole the Show in Virumaandi, He stole the show In Mumbai Express, He Stole The show in Majaa and even in Sullan. E is not exception. He has done an amazing job as a fanatic on a mission to set things right in Society. Not only is Pasupathy an excellent Villan now, but directors can now look to him to find an experct Charecter Artist.

Asish Vidhyarthi has done resonably well as the evil Doctor. The only thing that he needs to work on is his lip movement. The words say something but his lips say something completly different!

Nayantara is boring....there is not enough for her to work with in this charecter so it's understandable. She isn't even needed for the story, she is a bit irrelevent.

Director Janardhan

The Director has done an excellent job in taking this Theme to work with. His direction and screenplay is almost FLAWLESS. The only flaw I saw in the movie was the end. I just seemed like it was really rushed! Pasupathy dying, Nayanthara Dumping Jeeva, Jeeva's Grandmother Dying, Jeeva killing the Doctor, Jeeva now wanted for killing Medical Researchers around the sate...all this happened in about five minitues. The bulk of the story took place in the last five minitues of the movie. If the Irrelevent Nayantara scenes didn't exist then the director woudn't have to worry about time and the movie would've been a whole lot better. But still, the movie is very good. Director Janardhan is one to look out for.

Music - Srikanth Deva

One Word: PATHETIC!

I don't to say anything else on this.

Overall:

Overall the movie was very good. Probably one of the BEST this year. A MUST SEE for all!

I give it 8/10. Go For It!

Jillendru Oru Kaadhal - My Doodles.....

VERSION TALK:

FIRST OFF: There are 2 versions of this movie!

Version #1: The Movie as it was when it was released! This version is said to be really slow and dragging in the second half, which many people didn't like.

Version #2: This is the version that is running in the theaters right now in Tamil Nadu. This is the edited version, in which about 25 minites are chopped off the second half. This version has been getting good reviews, and is liked my most people who see it! So if you saw an earlier version, and didn't like it because it was too long, and slow moving, then watch the version that's in the theaters now! You will end up liking it a lot more!

NOW TO THE REVIEW:

I finally saw the Long Awaited Jillendru Oru Kaadhal yesterday! It's really nice to see movies that emphasize of pleasant, realistic emotions ra
ther than unpleasant, violent thoughts whcih are getting really boring. Jillendru Oru Kadhal is a movie in the Pleasant genre. It's a REFRESHING love story, which for a change doesn't have the usual "Hero with red eyes, with an aruval in his hand running in the streets of India trying to kill Currupt Politicians" nonsense! Lets get to the Story.Plot: The movie starts out with Surya and Jo's marriage, in which they both look miserable because they don't want to get married. After the wedding Ceremony, the movie jumps six years after their wedding. Now Surya, Jothika are married and live in Mumbai with their adorable, cute daughter. They have the fantasy family. The kind of family that every man, woman and child hoped that they had. Jothika is the Perfect Wife/Mom, Surya is the Perfect Husband/Dad, and their daughter is the cutest 5 year old daughter. Their life goes on like this until Surya has to go to New York due to work reasons, and he leaves for a few days. While Surya is gone, Jothika comes across Surya's diary which he had regularly updated when he was in College. The nosy person that she is, she starts reading it. *Hence the Flashback.* In it he talks about his college life, his friends, his reputation as the College Dada and has also written everything his College Love Story. Surya and Bhoomika are in love, Bhoomika's Dad is a No Good, Faggot Prick, Gangster MP (Sorry, I just HATED his charecter to the CORE!!) who will not approve of Bhoomika's love if he finds out. Surya only lives with his Uncle who showers love upon him, since Surya's parents pass away. So after a duet the couple realise that there is no point in waiting around, and decide to get married. At the registrar's office, the registrar calls the No good, faggot prick, gangstar MP and lets him know that his daughter is at his office getting married to someone. Before the marriage can take place, the No Good, faggot prick, gangster MP comes in with his Goons and there's a fight scene. Surya beats the living daylights out of all the gangsters, but unfortunatly the scenes must co-ordinate with the story, so at the end of the fight Surya gets a VERY VIOLENT beatdown by the goons, and Bhoomika is forced to get inside the father's car and is driven away. Surya wakes up in a hospitale with bandages and castes covering his body, he asks his friends to look for Bhoomika. No one can find her, because the No Good, Faggot Prick, Gangster MP has forcible sent her off to some foreign nation. Surya takes off his caste from his arm, and removes the bandages, and decides to go the the MP's house, when his Uncle, who loves him more than his parents probably would have gets a stroke, and rolls down the stairs. In his death bed, he asks for a promice as his last wish, for Surya to marry Kundhavi (Jothika) and Surya put in such a difficult situation, takes the decision to marry Jothika. *End Flashback* Jothika after reading this starts crying. A couple days later Surya returns from New York and Jothika starts avoiding him in doubt if Surya REALLY loves her. After learning how much he actually does love her, she apologises, and their life comes back to normal for a couple of days until Jothika decides to go to Coimbature to meet Bhoomika's father, claiming that she is her friend. He says that Bhoomika will be returning from Australia for a week to see her mother who has just had a heart attack. She now completly ignores her father, and hasn't spoken a word to him in the last 6 years for seperating her from her love Surya. Her father begs with her pathetically to speak to him at the Airport, but she ignores him and goes straight to the hospital. After that, Bhoomika enters back into Surya's life through Jothika. Surya is shocked out of his shoes when he sees her again and what happens after that makes up the rest of the movie. "Perazhagan" Surya, Jothika and Bhoomika: These three artists have done an EXCELLENT JOB! Surya does and excellent job as a Zealous, Emotional, Romantic College Student in the Flashback and as a responcible, loving husband and father in the second. Jothika as usual has given all she's got for the role. An excellent actress as she has always been. Bhoomika is probably the best in the three. In the flashback she is a VERY quiet, simple, homly college girl. And in the second half, she is a completly changed person. Modern, Beautiful, Outspoken, etc etc.

Music and Picturization: ARR has proven that he is the Master once again! All the songs are excellent!! My personal favorites are New York Nagaram, Machakaari and Munbe Vaa. As far as Picturization goes, the director has done a good job in most of the songs. Kummi Adi is Very Colorful and a treat for the eyes! Machakaari is an MTV kinda song. Munbe Vaa is VERY ROMANTIC, the director makes the audience (well me atleast) feel the romance between Surya and Bhoomika when watched on the Big Screen. Mazaa Mazaa is a Sexy but not vulgar, it takes place in the bedroom of Sury and Jothika. Nicely done! There's a thin line between being sexy and being vulgar and this song is definatly on the sexy side! New York Nagaram was a dissappointment! It could've been Picturzed in a MUCH BETTER way. I didn't like how the song was picturized.

Comedy: (Vadivelu and Santhaanam)
Vadivelu's same old "I'm getting beat up, but I'm going to get beat up in style" jokes are getting really boring! Nothing special about Vadivelu at all, infact his scenes were irritating! But he only shows up in a couple of the scenes. Santhaanam ROCKS!! He was HILAROUS! His Jokes really made the audience crack up!! He has a lot more scenes in the movie than Vadivelu does. If Vadivelu and Vivek continue their usual sterotype comedy they can say "bubye" to their career, because Santhaanam is the next hot comedian in the industry!

Overall:
Overall Jillendru Oru Kaadhal is a very good movie!! It's a sensitive Love story giving importance to Emotions. It's refreshing from all the blood and gore, and also unlike Merinated in Masala Love Stories like Something Something Unakkum Enakum. Everyone has done an excellent job. Jillendru Oru Kaadhal falls in the Genre of Mouna Raagam, and Alaipaayuthe. Meaning that it's a High Class, Romance Only Movie, with a some Masala Elements but at the same time A LOT MORE ENTERTAINING than most of the masala crap that comes out now-a-days!! "Perazhagan" Surya has excelled and his charecter before and after the flashback just ROCKS!!! If you liked teh romance between "Perazhagan" Surya and Asin in Gajini, then you will fall in love with this movie!! GO FOR IT!!!

Finally Going For Jillendru Oru Kaadhal...

I'm finally going to see the much awaited "Jillendru Oru Kaadhal" which has 'Perazhagan' Surya, Jothika, Bhoomika, Vadivelu, Santhaanam (Lollu Sabha), and Sukanya. I was supposed to go last week, but I ended up watching Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna since Jillendru Oru Kaadhal was Full. So I'll be watching it at IMC 6 San Jose finally tommorow. CAN'T WAIT! I'm a HUGE, HUMUNGOUS, MONSTEROUS fan of 'Perazhagan' Surya. I've watched all of his movies starting with Mounam Pesiyathe within the first week. I missed out on this one, but I'm seeing it tommorow finally!

Jillendru Oru Kaadhal So Far:

Jillendru Oru Kaadhal took a Monsterous Opening around the State, and made the
Distributors of the Movie content, but after a couple days the sales started to drop drastically since people who watched it claimed that the movie was way too long, and slow moving in the second half. Hearing this, The Director of the film, Krishna (Gautham Menon's Assistant) edited a few scenes from the second half, and after that supposedly the sales have picked up making Jillendru Oru Kaadal a Hit so far. After this most Tamil movie go-ers have claimed that the movie rocks now that some of the unneccery scenes have been cut! (Pic: Kollywoodtoday.com)

I'm going to watch the movie tommorow, I'll post my doodles about the movie up on Monday after I see it tommorow!

Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna - My Doodles...

I saw Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (KANK) a couple days ago. Karan Johar (The Director) has given a couple of my most favorite Bollywood movies (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham) in the past. So I went to the theater expecting a typical, awesome 3 hour Karan Johar ride, even though I was warned earlier by my friends, and reviews. But it was Karan Johar getting together with Amithabh Bachan (Big B!), Abhisekh Bachan, Shah Rukh Khan (SRK), Rani Mukherjee, and Priety Zinta, how bad could it be? Unfortunatly I was in for a Big Dissappointment. Unless you've been on Mars, you surely know the storyline for KANK. It's about SRK and Rani's Extramarital Affair, and SRK is married to Priety Zinta and Rani is married to Abhishekh Bachan.

First lets start by listing the Negative Aspects of the Movie:

The main reason I don't like the movie, isn't because of the numerous flaws in the Storyline (what Movie doesn't have flaws?) but the Presentation and screenplay!

* The Movie takes a whole CENTURY to end!!

* The Audience Don't Feel Any Sort Of Sympathy For Either Of The Infidels (SRK and Rani) I mean, Rani has like the Adorable Husband, and Priety is the Awesome Wife! (yeah, she'z @ work all the time, but who the hell is supposd to put food on teh table? SRK with his Crippled foot, and Soccer Coaching job which is often misses because he's busy flirting with Rani?! )

* There is NO ENTERTAININMENT!! The Movie like I said, takes a Century to End! SRK is Missing his Charm, that Magic that ppl like in him so much is NON EXISTENT in this movie! Karan Johar is Known for Family Entertainments which Rock like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and Kabhi Kushi Kabhi Gham! I was a Karan Johar Fan until I saw this movie!

* I agree taht Some movies are seen not because they're Entertaining, but because they're classy (Like Mahanadhi (tamil), Hey! Ram, Anbe Sivam(tamil) *actually I found AS and Mahanadhi and Hey! Ram entertaining*)..
.But KANK isn't even Classy! There isn't a Solid Reason for Rani to Repel Abishek at all, he just seems to be the best husband any woman could have!! That is a good example of one out of the...oh...gazillion flaws in the movie.

Positive Aspects:

BIG B!!!!! - HE ROCKED!!! His scenes were amoung the few scnes in the movie which was actually enjoyable! (isn't worth going to the movie though, his performance in the whole movie falls under....15 mins, and that's including the songs! )

Songs - The Songs were pretty Good! I liked all of them! Espicially "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Mitwaa, and Rock and Roll Soniye." But even for that...U can buy the CD..not really picturized all that well except for Mitwaa
in my opinion.

Abhishek Bachan - There is something abuot this fella...he's awesome! He excels in the movie! I don't see why though...he's given a fairly small role compared to SRK and Rani, but even in that he ends up impressing the audeince! Basically, The Magic and Charm that was non-existent in SRK, is all there and present in Abhisek Bachan!

Preity Zinta
- She was as she is always. Good Acting, She looks Stunning, and her dance as usual rocks!

That Basically Sums UP The Movie...Only Positive Aspects Being Songs, and the Bachans and Priety. The 50 hour drag which is what the movie is, isn't worth it just for these four things!

Karan Johar has Dissappointed his fans!

"Indian Superhero" Hrithik Roshan's KRRISH - Gets A HUGE WELCOME around the GLOBE.

"Indian Superhero" Hrithik Roshan's KRRISH hit Screens today, and took a MONSTEROUS OPENING around the Globe. KRRISH, as we all probably know, is the First SUPERHERO movie that Indian Cinema has ever shot. It is a Sequel to the earlier BLOCKBUSTER "Koi Mil Gaya." It is a Undoubtable Given Fact that this movie will break Records, and make amazing numbers at the Box Office. The Hindhi Version of KRRISH is already being declared a BLOCKBUSTER, because the Advance Booking for the movie is ASTONISHING! KRRISH is also being released in Tamil and Telugu (Both Dubbed.) Tamil has never welcomed Dubbed Movies. In the past 50 years, the number of Dubbed Movies that ran well in Tamil would fall under 20. But even in Tamil Nadu, the Dubbed Version of KRRISH has hit the Capital, Chennai, like a Tsunami.

Looking at the rate of the Advance Booking for KRRISH, it looks like KRRISH's Opening can ONLY be Compared with those of "SUPERSTAR" Rajinikanth's Chandramukhi (April 2005) which was declared as THE BIGGEST HIT OF 2005.

In Andra, a state that welcomes dubbed movies, KRRISH has taken a Gigantic Opening, which will, by itself make up for the Dubbing Costs for Telugu.

Worldwide KRRISH has taken a tremendous opening, with people from all over the globe praising it. Will KRRISH be a trendsetter for Indian Cinema? You bet it will!

In the First Day of it's Release, KRRISH has been declared a BLOCKBUSTER! KRRISH is here to RULE!
