Jillendru Oru Kaadhal - My Doodles.....

VERSION TALK:

FIRST OFF: There are 2 versions of this movie!

Version #1: The Movie as it was when it was released! This version is said to be really slow and dragging in the second half, which many people didn't like.

Version #2: This is the version that is running in the theaters right now in Tamil Nadu. This is the edited version, in which about 25 minites are chopped off the second half. This version has been getting good reviews, and is liked my most people who see it! So if you saw an earlier version, and didn't like it because it was too long, and slow moving, then watch the version that's in the theaters now! You will end up liking it a lot more!

NOW TO THE REVIEW:

I finally saw the Long Awaited Jillendru Oru Kaadhal yesterday! It's really nice to see movies that emphasize of pleasant, realistic emotions ra
ther than unpleasant, violent thoughts whcih are getting really boring. Jillendru Oru Kadhal is a movie in the Pleasant genre. It's a REFRESHING love story, which for a change doesn't have the usual "Hero with red eyes, with an aruval in his hand running in the streets of India trying to kill Currupt Politicians" nonsense! Lets get to the Story.Plot: The movie starts out with Surya and Jo's marriage, in which they both look miserable because they don't want to get married. After the wedding Ceremony, the movie jumps six years after their wedding. Now Surya, Jothika are married and live in Mumbai with their adorable, cute daughter. They have the fantasy family. The kind of family that every man, woman and child hoped that they had. Jothika is the Perfect Wife/Mom, Surya is the Perfect Husband/Dad, and their daughter is the cutest 5 year old daughter. Their life goes on like this until Surya has to go to New York due to work reasons, and he leaves for a few days. While Surya is gone, Jothika comes across Surya's diary which he had regularly updated when he was in College. The nosy person that she is, she starts reading it. *Hence the Flashback.* In it he talks about his college life, his friends, his reputation as the College Dada and has also written everything his College Love Story. Surya and Bhoomika are in love, Bhoomika's Dad is a No Good, Faggot Prick, Gangster MP (Sorry, I just HATED his charecter to the CORE!!) who will not approve of Bhoomika's love if he finds out. Surya only lives with his Uncle who showers love upon him, since Surya's parents pass away. So after a duet the couple realise that there is no point in waiting around, and decide to get married. At the registrar's office, the registrar calls the No good, faggot prick, gangstar MP and lets him know that his daughter is at his office getting married to someone. Before the marriage can take place, the No Good, faggot prick, gangster MP comes in with his Goons and there's a fight scene. Surya beats the living daylights out of all the gangsters, but unfortunatly the scenes must co-ordinate with the story, so at the end of the fight Surya gets a VERY VIOLENT beatdown by the goons, and Bhoomika is forced to get inside the father's car and is driven away. Surya wakes up in a hospitale with bandages and castes covering his body, he asks his friends to look for Bhoomika. No one can find her, because the No Good, Faggot Prick, Gangster MP has forcible sent her off to some foreign nation. Surya takes off his caste from his arm, and removes the bandages, and decides to go the the MP's house, when his Uncle, who loves him more than his parents probably would have gets a stroke, and rolls down the stairs. In his death bed, he asks for a promice as his last wish, for Surya to marry Kundhavi (Jothika) and Surya put in such a difficult situation, takes the decision to marry Jothika. *End Flashback* Jothika after reading this starts crying. A couple days later Surya returns from New York and Jothika starts avoiding him in doubt if Surya REALLY loves her. After learning how much he actually does love her, she apologises, and their life comes back to normal for a couple of days until Jothika decides to go to Coimbature to meet Bhoomika's father, claiming that she is her friend. He says that Bhoomika will be returning from Australia for a week to see her mother who has just had a heart attack. She now completly ignores her father, and hasn't spoken a word to him in the last 6 years for seperating her from her love Surya. Her father begs with her pathetically to speak to him at the Airport, but she ignores him and goes straight to the hospital. After that, Bhoomika enters back into Surya's life through Jothika. Surya is shocked out of his shoes when he sees her again and what happens after that makes up the rest of the movie. "Perazhagan" Surya, Jothika and Bhoomika: These three artists have done an EXCELLENT JOB! Surya does and excellent job as a Zealous, Emotional, Romantic College Student in the Flashback and as a responcible, loving husband and father in the second. Jothika as usual has given all she's got for the role. An excellent actress as she has always been. Bhoomika is probably the best in the three. In the flashback she is a VERY quiet, simple, homly college girl. And in the second half, she is a completly changed person. Modern, Beautiful, Outspoken, etc etc.

Music and Picturization: ARR has proven that he is the Master once again! All the songs are excellent!! My personal favorites are New York Nagaram, Machakaari and Munbe Vaa. As far as Picturization goes, the director has done a good job in most of the songs. Kummi Adi is Very Colorful and a treat for the eyes! Machakaari is an MTV kinda song. Munbe Vaa is VERY ROMANTIC, the director makes the audience (well me atleast) feel the romance between Surya and Bhoomika when watched on the Big Screen. Mazaa Mazaa is a Sexy but not vulgar, it takes place in the bedroom of Sury and Jothika. Nicely done! There's a thin line between being sexy and being vulgar and this song is definatly on the sexy side! New York Nagaram was a dissappointment! It could've been Picturzed in a MUCH BETTER way. I didn't like how the song was picturized.

Comedy: (Vadivelu and Santhaanam)
Vadivelu's same old "I'm getting beat up, but I'm going to get beat up in style" jokes are getting really boring! Nothing special about Vadivelu at all, infact his scenes were irritating! But he only shows up in a couple of the scenes. Santhaanam ROCKS!! He was HILAROUS! His Jokes really made the audience crack up!! He has a lot more scenes in the movie than Vadivelu does. If Vadivelu and Vivek continue their usual sterotype comedy they can say "bubye" to their career, because Santhaanam is the next hot comedian in the industry!

Overall:
Overall Jillendru Oru Kaadhal is a very good movie!! It's a sensitive Love story giving importance to Emotions. It's refreshing from all the blood and gore, and also unlike Merinated in Masala Love Stories like Something Something Unakkum Enakum. Everyone has done an excellent job. Jillendru Oru Kaadhal falls in the Genre of Mouna Raagam, and Alaipaayuthe. Meaning that it's a High Class, Romance Only Movie, with a some Masala Elements but at the same time A LOT MORE ENTERTAINING than most of the masala crap that comes out now-a-days!! "Perazhagan" Surya has excelled and his charecter before and after the flashback just ROCKS!!! If you liked teh romance between "Perazhagan" Surya and Asin in Gajini, then you will fall in love with this movie!! GO FOR IT!!!
